Your presentation was faultless; you managed to get under the skin of G and you portrayed him very well indeed. The tone and timing were just right and the humour was subtle and comforting

LM

I felt so relaxed walking into the crematorium for Dad's funeral, and that was thanks to you and the way you handled everything so beautifully. Everyone who was there in person, and who watched the webcast, said the ceremony was just perfect

AB

The process of working with Adam was so simple and professional, exactly what we needed at a difficult time

SP

Lots of people have commented on how lovely the service was and was exactly what he (and I) wanted

Funerals and Celebrations of Life

Where can I hold a funeral?

You can hold a funeral ceremony just about anywhere. In your own home or garden, in the village hall, pub, club, crematorium... wherever works for you

If you choose cremation, you can hold the funeral ceremony at the crematorium, but you may decide to have a short, simple service there, followed by a more relaxed celebration of life somewhere else

You may opt for burial in your local cemetery. Or what about a "green" burial? You can find more information here

Planning ahead - I want to plan my funeral in advance

That's an excellent idea! Adam has the skills and knowledge to be able to work with you sensitively to carry out your wishes

Can we read something at the funeral?

Absolutely! It can really help to personalise the ceremony if friends or family members give a eulogy or read a poem, or maybe perform a piece of music. Adam will guide and support you with this

Non-religious Funerals

Adam is trained and accredited by Humanists UK to lead non-religious funerals. As a Humanist, Adam is absolutely not anti-religion; he simply does not have any religious beliefs. Rather, like other Humanists, he believes that we should make the best we can of our one life, caring for our fellow humans, for all animals and the environment, and striving to live with generosity, empathy, and courage

Can I have a prayer or a hymn at the funeral?

Families may decide they want a hymn, or perhaps the Lord's Prayer, at an otherwise non-religious funeral. Often this is because of associations with childhood, or sporting events, and that's fine. As a non-religious person, Adam will not read a prayer himself, but one of the mourners may like to do so, or a recording can be chosen. In any event, Adam's funerals are designed to be inclusive, and he always makes sure there is time for religious mourners to say a silent prayer if they would like to do so

The Small Print

Adam's standard fee for writing and presenting a funeral or celebration of life in full consultation with you (and your funeral director, if applicable) is £300. Any additional work or travel costs can be agreed if needed

If you are in any way dissatisfied with Adam's service, please contact him straightaway. If this does not resolve matters, then we can refer to Humanists UK for their support. Adam must comply with their code of conduct, which you can find here

Adam offers a very responsive service. Please feel free to email or phone him. Evenings and weekends are fine.

About Adam

Before becoming a funeral celebrant in 2020, Adam had a long career in local authorities and housing associations. When he is not writing and leading funerals, he spends his time gardening, walking, and trying to get his anxious terrier to bark less
